When in French by Lauren Collins

A memoir about a love that spans languages and cultures and also low-key a linguistics textbook. Lauren decides to learn French when her husband Olivier, who’s third language is English, proclaims, “Speaking English to you is like touching you with gloves.” It holds a magnificent magnifying glass up to their relationship, the way language molds us, and French and American culture. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
